e-IMPAQc facilitates the systematic and standardized screening and management of symptoms for patients with cancer. Over the course of the project, this page will be regularly updated to provide information on screening for cancer-related symptoms for health professionals as well as information on how to use e-IMPAQc to address the challenges associated with assessing symptoms.

Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and symptom screening

Cancer and its treatment can lead to severe symptoms such as pain, fatigue and nausea and consequences such as increased anxiety and depression that are not always recognized and treated. Asking patients to answer questions about common symptoms and side effects has been shown to improve care in several ways, such as improving patient-clinician communication.

This video from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer highlights the benefits of PROs for patients and clinicians.
