Cancer and its treatment may cause physical side effects or emotional consequences. At times it can be challenging for patients and health professionals to recognize these symptoms.
The e-IMPAQc project team is developing a program to help with the identification of symptoms and their management. In this program
- Patients will be able to complete questionnaires on a smartphone or tablet that will capture the side effects and consequences they are experiencing.
Patients and their healthcare team will receive a summary of the results of these questionnaires.
Patients will be able to receive educational materials that may help them manage their symptoms.
What does participation involve?
We invite you to participate in a discussion with a member of the project team and 4 to 7 other patients. This discussion, called a focus group, will be on the types of side effects and consequences that you feel would be important to be able to discuss with your healthcare team. It will held via video-conference and will be 60 to 90 minutes long. If you are not available for a focus group, individual telephone or virtual interviews are possible.
What are the benefits of participating?
Your opinion will help the project team to identify the side effects and consequences experienced by patients with cancer so that the appropriate questionnaires can be included in our screening program.
