Patient-reported outcomes online training

During their care trajectory, cancer patients present several symptoms, some of which are insufficiently recognized and treated in oncology. The resulting increase in morbidity can be costly for patients, their families, and the healthcare system.

In this training, we will explore one solution to this clinical problem: the routine and systematic collection of patient-reported outcomes (PROs), a recognized cornerstone of high-quality care.

We will also present e-IMPAQc (Electronic Implementation of Patient- and caregiver-reported outcomes Across cancer centres in Quebec), a provincial PRO Screening project whose purpose is to increase the spread and scale of symptom screening throughout Quebec.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the clinical issues addressed by symptom screening
  • Understand the evidence for symptom screening
  • Identify the components of an effective PRO screening program
  • Discover the symptom screening program e-IMPAQc.
